Our History
The Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. was born on year 1989 at the Technological University of the Philippines with 52 members initially. At present members cuts across different HEI's, government and other non-government organizations. The PAEPI was first registered at the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on year 1990 with SEC Registration No. 177210. However, due to non-submission of documents in year 2003 its registration was revoked. Nonetheless, it was re-registered in year 2011 with SEC Registered No. 2011-13177.
The PAEPI is composed of Board of Directors, Officers and Members. Membership to PAEPI enables members to earn points and additional point when a member presents a paper.
The PAEPI is an association where members have the opportunity to share their experiences, knowledge and skills in the conduct of extension services geared towards development of the country. PAEPI, Inc. is somehow the channel of advocacy to address issues and concerns that the country is experiencing.
The first five national-seminar workshops were all held at TUP and it was in year 1994 that the first leg of the Philippine tour started in Bicol University until it reach the North and back to the South.
Thus, from 1990 to 2006 there were annual National Seminar-Workshop on Extension Program Management conducted and some of which were: Resource Sharing for Community Development, Technology Dissemination, Environmental Management, Role of Extension Implementors on Education for All, Gender Education for Science and Technology, People Empowerment, Entrepreneurship , Extension Services; Challenges in the next Millennium, Role of Extension Services in Building Institutions as Center of Excellence, Professionalism and Resource Mobilization in Extension for Poverty Alleviation and Social Transformation and Redefining Extension for Global Competitiveness.
In year 2008, the Association decided that the annual seminar-workshop on extension program management will be conducted biennially. Hence, the first Biennial PAEPI Convention and General Assembly was conducted in year 2008. The 2nd Biennial Convention and General Assembly was conducted in year 2010 and at the same time it was the 20th Anniversary of the Association thus it was celebrated with a theme of "Implementation of Research-Based of MDGs cum Advocacy on Magna Carta for Extension Service Workers". The 3rd Biennial Convention and General Assembly was conducted just last year as well with a theme "Sustaining Development Extension Initiatives towards Environmental and Societal Well-being".
